The story of the tourist and the fisherman from the "Leading in an Era of Globalization" seminar represents two very different ways to work and to live. On the one hand, you have an ambitious tourist offering ways to maximize the most of one's time for the biggest pay off, while on the other you have the content fisherman, happy with doing what he defines as "enough," and going on to enjoy the view. With the renewed energy the new year brings, we're sharing the reading, Anecdote Concerning the Lowering of Productivity by Heinrich Böll and the following questions for reflection:
- Who would your family and co-workers say you most resemble in this story: the tourist or the fisherman?
- Who would you say you most identify with? Why?
- Are you comfortable with this?
- Regardless of your choice, can you understand why the other thinks the way he does?
