NON-PROFIT BOARD OPPORTUNITY with Edesia
NON-PROFIT BOARD OPPORTUNITY

Edesia is a non-profit organization that manufactures specialized ready-to-use foods that saves lives. Each year, millions of “miracle packets” are delivered into the hands of malnourished children all over the world by humanitarian aid workers working in some of the hardest-to-reach areas on the planet. Founder, Henry Crown Fellow, Navyn Salem, traveled to her father’s birthplace, Tanzania, in 2007 and discovered that malnutrition – a 100% preventable global health crisis – was responsible for the deaths of 5 million children each year. She learned about Plumpy’Nut, a fortified peanut paste that treats the most severe malnutrition cases rapidly, and founded Edesia in 2009. Edesia now makes 1.5 million packets a ready-to-use food each day and has reached 13 million children across 58 countries.

Edesia is searching for a new board member with expertise in one of these areas:
  • Experience and expertise in large retail operations (sales, marketing, distribution)
  • Operation experience in running a food company (innovation, R&D, new market opportunities in the childhood nutrition space and supply chains both domestic and international)
  • Experience in the non-profit arena, (fundraising, connections to foundations, or just wants to be part of making a huge impact in the world)
