Bio:
Bernardo Callejas is currently Vice-President of Global Innovation Partnership for Dairy Management Inc. (DMI) ; the innovation and marketing arm of the US dairy industry. In his current role he creates strategic alliances with global companies to maximize utilization and promote usage of US dairy and dairy-based ingredients. Prior to joining DMI, he was the founder and CEO of Disfrutan S.A. a Nicaraguan based supplier of socially-certified fresh fruits and vegetables for the local market. In 2015, he founded Global Marketing Specialists, Inc. in Chicago to provide strategic marketing services to global clients in the health and nutrition categories. Employed by Abbott Nutrition International from 2009 to 2015, Bernardo led key infant nutrition brands including Pedialyte®, Similac®, and Pediasure®; and co-developed the IMFED® program, a diagnostic toolkit to help physicians identify children at risk of nutrition depletion. The program is present in over 27 countries and has been endorsed by fifteen medical associations across the world. Prior to joining Abbott Nutrition, Bernardo co-founded ProNicaragua, the government of Nicaragua’s investment promotion agency. Since its establishment in 2002, ProNicaragua has created close to 90,000 new jobs through the attraction and implementation of projects that surpass US$1.7 billion. He earned a master’s degree from McGill University in Canada in 2002 and a bachelor’s degree in food engineering from the University of Florida in 1996. Bernardo is a Fellow of the thirteenth class of the Central America Leadership Initiative and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
