With an eye to the varied initiatives around the world that comprise the AGLN, Samra Wondemagane tracks and amplifies their governance best practices, manages the Leading in an Era of Globalization annual seminar series logistics, and supports key activities and initiatives that undergird the DC-based AGLN core team. She joined the AGLN in April 2018 after serving as a senior program assistant for over two years with the Sub-Saharan Africa-focused Malaria Vaccine Initiative and MalariaCare project at PATH. Prior to that, she was an executive assistant with the executive director for global policy and chief development officer at the ONE Campaign, with goals surrounding the advancement of women and girls and the Global Fund replenishment campaign. Samra earned a masters of science in global and community health, and has a bachelor’s degree and several years’ work experience in the hospitality and tourism industry, predisposing her to understanding the big picture while thinking creatively to solve problems. Samra's commitment to creating a better world has been the motivation behind her academic and career choices. She is excited to bring her organizational and strategic thinking experience as well as her passion for making a positive change to her new role at the AGLN. In her free time, Samra enjoys planning activities for her family and friends, cooking meals without setting off the fire alarm, and traveling.
