Title and Organization:
Shannon Falkenstein is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Acton Academy & Montessori in El Salvador, a progressive micro-school innovating education to offer learners skills for the 21st Century. Acton Academy is a blended, learner-driven education model that started in Austin, Texas in 2009 and now has more than 270 affiliates around the globe.
Shannon is the host of The New Schools podcast, which helps families at an inflection point in schooling to explore and choose the best option for their learning journey.
An explorer and anthropologist at heart, Shannon has lived, worked and studied all over the world, in careers as diverse as anthropology, public health, finance tech, education, life coaching, craft beer and rock music.
Shannon earned her Bachelor of Science in Anthropology and Human Biology from Emory University and her Master of Arts in Secondary Science Teaching from New York University. She lives in El Salvador with her husband, David Falkenstein, CALI-X Fellow and their two joyful children.
