Crystal German is member of the Executive Staff at The Center for Community Self-Help, based in Durham, North Carolina. In her current role, Crystal provides strategic leadership on the creation and expansion of the organization’s tools and relationships to grow business owned by people of color and women.
The Center for Community Self-Help and its affiliates provide financial services and advocate for, with and on the behalf of communities of color and low-income communities across the country. Self-Help has an explicit mission of creating and protecting ownership and economic opportunity for all.
Crystal’s career spans finance, economic development, and inclusion positions within the public and private sectors. Whether as a leader for regional economic development organizations or through her independent consultancy, Prosperity Labs, Crystal has helped to launch, grow or support several minority business acceleration programs, including in Cincinnati, Boston and Grand Rapids. Those business acceleration programs have been recognized nationally for their efforts in creating both wealth and jobs in communities of color.
Crystal is a graduate of Florida A&M University (B.S.) and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (MBA), and serves on various non-profit and small private enterprise boards.
